Ministers  & Spouses Retreat

February 20-21, 2026

Camp Bethel

Spiritual Disciplines for Your Walk: An exploration if inward, outward, and corporate spiritual disciplines
In this season and in a culture that screams more, more, more, where leaders can begin to believe that their self-worth is measured in their productivity, the ministers and spouses retreat is an opportunity for ministers and their spouses to take intentional time for communion with God and with each other.  It is the prayer of the Commission on Ministry that this retreat will be a time of rejuvenation and cultivating of wholeness for those who answer that call of God.
Retreat Theme
The retreat theme of Spiritual Disciplines for Your Walk invites participants to look inward at our own connections with God and to take intentional time to strengthen them.  This will be a time of experiencing some of the deep ways that Christians have intentionally sought to put themselves in God’s presence and to receive from our Lord.  So often, the focus of our time together is on what we can give and how we can more effectively do.  We pray that this retreat will invite us to receive from God in ways that build us up as God’s beloved children, and through building us up, help us to point others to the source of our life and being.

The Leadership for the weekend:
Jan Glass King

Jan Glass King (ordained minister) served as former district and denominational staff and most recently retired as pastor at Wyomissing Church of the Brethren. One of her interests includes learning about and practicing spiritual disciplines as part of daily devotional life, spiritual growth and formation. Jan and husband, Scott live in Lebanon, PA and share their home with two adorable, goofy and fun dogs, Jasper and Dasher. Both Jan and Scott visit the American Southwest annually to share in better understanding and response to indigenous issues, near and dear to their hearts. Leadership with Virlina pastors and spouses will focus on “How can you be refreshed by God on a daily basis?” The retreat will help explore modest practices that hold potential to rest in God’s grace in such a time as this.
