Let us give glory to God for the manifold gifts of the Spirit bestowed upon Christ’s church.

Pray for Rodger L. Boothe, who has served thirty-five years as pastor of the Olean Church. Let us pray that we will embrace anew the ministry of proclamation in word and deed wherever we are.

Pray for the youth of the Church of the Brethren as we observe National Youth Sunday throughout our denomination. Let us look forward with excitement and enthusiasm to the greater works of God to be revealed.

May 10, 2020 -

Pray for Joelle Hathaway, as she begins as assistant professor of theological studies at Bethany Theological Seminary on July 1. Let us give thanks to God for the work and witness which we accomplish together here and throughout the world.

May 17, 2020 -

Pray for Spencer P. Knox, who begins as 2020 Summer Program Coordinator at Camp Bethel on May 18, 2020. Let us pray that the ministries of Camp Bethel will be enhanced and multiplied for the glory of God.

May 24, 2020 –

Pray for the Widening the Welcome of Your Church event sponsored by the Good News Team of the Virlina District, to be held on June 6 at the Summerdean Church in Roanoke, Virginia. Let us pray that the Lord of the Harvest will call and send out workers into fields near and far.

Pray for the students and staff of the Christian Growth Institute as they gather at the Stone Church in Buena Vista, Virginia on June 6 for Orientation Day. Let us express gratitude to God for those who are engaged in formation for the Gospel Ministry in Virlina and Shenandoah Districts.


 June 7, 2020 -

Pray for the year-round staff, the summer staff, counselors and campers, as the summer camping program takes place at Camp Bethel. Let us pray that the camp experience will be a laboratory for Christian living and that every camper might be drawn closer to Christ and the church.

June 14, 2020 -

Pray for the Virlina District Board, meeting at the Crab Orchard Church in Raleigh County, West Virginia on June 20. Let us glorify and honor God in the business of the church as well as in every aspect of life.

June 21, 2020 -

Pray for Gary L. Basham, who is retiring as the Director of Ministry Formation for the Virlina District on June 30. Let us pray that the wideness and breadth of God’s work might continue to challenge us to seek wider, greater and more creative fields of mission and ministry.

Pray for the moderator, officers, delegates and attendees of the 234th Recorded Annual Conference of the Church of the Brethren meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan from July 1-5. Let us pray that our leaders, delegates and membership be given travel mercy, wisdom, discernment and insight as they serve Christ and the church.

Pray for those who suffer from the effects of systematic racism and societal inequities in their everyday experience. Let us examine our personal and congregational attitudes toward those who are of a different color or ethnicity and let us work to eradicate personal and societal attitudes that hinder justice for all.


August 2, 2020 -

Pray for the ministries of the World Hunger Auction which cannot be held this year due to pandemic concerns. Let us pray that God might multiply the efforts to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and care for the imprisoned even in the midst of social distancing.

August 9, 2020 -

Pray for the ministry of Dewey V. Broyles and Rodger L. Boothe, who have served as the ministry team of the Spruce Run Church in Monroe County, West Virginia for 30 years as of June 8, as they continue to serve. Let us support, encourage and pray for our pastors and ministers.

Pray for those who are suffering from the effects of COVID-19, those who grieve the loss of friends and families during the pandemic, and those involved in research to develop a safe, effective vaccine. Let us pray that the healing power of the Great Physician and the comforting power of the Holy Spirit be manifest in a powerful way.
